Waterfront and Downtown Area Revitilization Plan Update:

Phase 1:  Completed in December 2010
 
The first phase of the Mount Vernon Flood Protection and Riverfront Trail has been completed and the trail opened to the public on December 10, 2010. The project includes a flood wall incorporated into the existing levee system north of the Division Street Bridge up to Lions Park and a 12-16 foot wide river trail with pedestrian furnishings.

Phase 2: Coming Soon - 2013

Preliminary engineering for flood protection measures December 2008
Submittal to FEMA for a Conditional Letter of Map Revision January 2009
Demolition of 305-307 S. Main (Old Easton's Bookstore) January 2009
Demolition of 319 S. Main (Eddie's New and Used) January 2009
Demolition of 509 S. Main (Courtyard Cafe) January 2009

Wayfinding Signage Program for Downtown and Citywide - Plan and
Design Development

Begin work January 2009
City to begin work on design standards for downtown January/February 2009
Shoreline Master Program Update - Public Meetings Begin February/March 2009
