Admin 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Collection 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

 

 


Responsibilities include: Collection and disposal of all municipal solid waste/garbage, operation of yard waste facility for all rate paying residences of Mount Vernon.

The Solid Waste Division employs 12 fFull time Staff and 2 part time staff.
Their are 8 garbage trucks used daily
8,900 Residential Garbage Carts
500+ Steel Commercial Dumpster
17,000 to 20,000 Tons of waste per year
2,400 tons of recycle


MISSED GARBAGE/RECYLCE COLLECTION DUE TO WEATHER:
If your garbage or recycle cart is not serviced on your regular collection day due to a weather related event, please leave your carts out and either check the City of Mount Vernon web-site ci.mount-vernon.wa.us for information or call City Hall at 336-6218 for a pre-recorded inclement weather collection schedule that will be updated every day throughout the weather event.

The following electronics contain hazardous materials and may not be accepted for disposal as garbage: Computers, Laptops, Notebooks, Computer Monitors, Televisions, Scanners, Fax Machines, VCRs, Stereos, DVD Players, Etc. Other Electronics that contain CRTs (cathode ray tubes)

Autopay Utility Bill Payment: The City of Mount Vernon is pleased to announce that an alternate utility payment option is now available.   Complete the authorization form and submit it with a deposit slip to: City of Mount Vernon. PO BOX 809, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.  More questions?  Call: (360) 419-3253. If your form arrives at our office by the 5th of the month we will do a "test" withdrawal of $0.00 on the 15th of the month. The FOLLOWING month your actual bill will be paid by Direct Debit.
