Mount Vernon Police Department

Police Department Building Welcome!

The Mount Vernon Police Department consists of 45 commissioned Police Officers, three Community Service Officers, one Animal Control Officer, nine records/clerical personnel and approximately 50 volunteers. We provide service to a population of 29,000 over an area of 11.3 square miles.

With a community based policing philosophy, our number one operational priority is the prevention of crime. We are committed to helping create safe and enjoyable neighborhoods for the citizens of Mount Vernon.

1st Street, Fri & Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 10am-5pm. Live music at two stages, children's activities and a wonderful variety of food, with artisans from 8 states. Over 100 juried arts and crafts vendors.
