Jerry Dodd has been with the Mount Vernon Police Department since 1979.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Northwest Law Enforcement Executive Command College, and Western Washington University.  He holds an Executive Management certificate from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission,
is working on his Masters Degree through City University, and is involved in several community service groups.

Jerry was promoted to Lieutenant in 1986, initially serving as commander of the Patrol Division and later as commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.  Currently, Jerry is Administrative Services Division Lieutenant and works closely with the Chief of Police.  He is responsible for pre-employment background investigations, internal affairs investigations, research, collective bargaining, facilities, workplace safety, and management of the Department accreditation and training functions.
