MOUNT VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT
On July 10, 2009 at approximately 11:34pm, Mount Vernon Police were dispatched to a report of gunshots being fired just north of Edgewater Park in West Mount Vernon. Several callers reported hearing multiple gunshots. Responding officers located evidence in the area of North Baker and Cosgrove, confirming the information reported. There were no reported injuries or property damage.
On July 11, 2009 at approximately 1:32am, Mount Vernon Police responded to a report of a gunshot being fired into a residence in the 200 block of Maple Lane. Three occupants of the residence, all male juveniles, were injured as a result of this gunshot. Two injuries were minor in nature, while the 3rd victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The area was cordoned off, while detectives processed the scene. Several witnesses have been contacted and are being interviewed. No arrests have been made.
At this time, it is unknown if and/or how these two incidents may be related.
