MOUNT VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT
On Tuesday, July 21, 2009, Mount Vernon Police arrested two individuals for the robbery of Hilltop Pharmacy that occurred on May 26, 2009. An 18 year-old male and a 20 year-old female who reside in Everett were booked into Skagit County Jail for investigation of Robbery First Degree.
Following the May 26th robbery, investigators learned that the suspects may have inadvertently called the pharmacy after committing the crime. Retracing cell phone records and cross checking the legitimate business calls was a time consuming endeavor.
In addition, Detectives checked with neighboring businesses, schools and residences to determine if anyone had witnessed the incident. A neighboring security camera system was found to have captured an image of the suspect vehicle as it left the area.
This led to the Everett area where the suspects were located. Investigators from both Marysville and Everett assisted Mount Vernon Detectives and are looking into any connections with crimes from their jurisdictions.
This incident reminds us of the benefit that can come from adding security measures to your home or business. If you have or are planning to add security cameras, remember that you are not just watching out for your own property.
The investigation is continuing.
