On 4-2-07, Mount Vernon Police responded to the 900 block of S. 27th Street to investigate a possible motor vehicle accident and a report of gunshots fired. Upon arriving in the area, officers received descriptions of an older model, brown Oldsmobile style vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Carmel Avenue and Bel Air Avenue and took 3 occupants into custody.
The suspects include a 20 year old Mount Vernon man, a 15 year old Mount Vernon juvenile male, 16 year old Mount Vernon juvenile male. All suspects were booked on investigation of Assault 1st degree and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation.
Damage was found to a home in the 900 block of S. 27th Street, which is believed to be unrelated to the suspects. A 40 year old Mount Vernon woman, a resident in the home was struck with a bullet fragment. No medical attention was required on scene.
