| Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) – City of Mount Vernon Flood Insurance Study Update |
|
Throughout the United States the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working with communities to establish new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). These maps will contain new base flood elevations for communities, including Skagit County. The cities of Mount Vernon and Burlington are concerned that the technical analysis that is being used by FEMA is wrong and will result in significantly higher base flood elevations which will result in negative impacts to the cities. Attached are documents outlining the basis of concern about FEMA’s underlying technical analysis of the new Base Flood Maps for Skagit County.
